Veteran character actor Arthur Hill is dead at 84.
I'm sorry to hear this. Hill was a good solid actor, who possessed a
certain indefinable "goodness". (Which may have been a hindrance if and
when he played a villain.)
He was a very effective villain in "Mission Impossible" -- he was in "The
Carriers," one of the Steven Hill episodes. He played a Russian double
agent planning to infect American citizens with the plague.
I recall him as Faye Dunaway's second husband (the rich one) in The Champ
(1979).
I also remember him from "The Andromeda Strain" -- he did well in that.

To this day, that episode sends chills up my spine. What an exciting,
thrilling climax. Then, that brutal little bit of minor surgery in the
escape automobile.
